The knife edge ridge, this is the actual realization of the motivations of Alexander Heatons paintings.

As in climbing all that matters is the moment, past and future and all there assocated worries are irrelevant in the focus of the hear and now. The struggle to stay alive in these places enables the thrill seaker to live in a hightented sence of existance and as so the closer one is to death the more alive one feels. The painting seeks to comminicate this idea to non-alpinsts. The inverted war memorial in the background gives wieght to the risks involved in such ventures and ask for respect and reverence in the face of nature and the fragility of our own existence.
